We know you’ve been waiting for to this one. After months of anticipation, the Nike Air Foamposite One Eggplant colorway is finally here. Right behind Obama, this is the thing I was looking forward to most in 2009. The Nike Air Foamposite One Eggplant boasts a unique colorway and a distinctive upper that keeps it looking as futuristic today as it did when it first dropped.

Throw in the love-it-or-hate-it Foamposite technology, and it’s no wonder this shoe became a cult classic. Certain sneaker purists may say it’s an abomination, but it grows on me every time I see new pictures. Although many will hold out for a more conservative colorway, I can definitely say I’m a fan of the Nike Air Foamposite One Eggplant.

Those of you past a certain age will remember that this was one of the first sneakers Penny Hardaway wore once the last in his trademark line was released. In fact, many believed at first that the Foamposite would be marketed as a Nike Air Penny shoe. Nike finally decided against it, and thus it was named the “Foamposite” and produced in a number of colorways for Nike-sponsored NBA players without their own shoe.
