Air Penny fiends will be excited to hear that Nike has already made deliveries of the Nike Air Penny III (3) in the black/black-varsity royal colorway to a limited number of sneaker boutiques.  You can expect to pay way over the odds to pick up a pair at one of those stores, but if you’ve got a little patience you’ll be able to get them for considerably less early next year.

I can’t blame you if you don’t want to wait, though.  The Air Penny III is a fascinating little shoe that straddles two eras of sneaker design, with its dated “Air” stitching and ruffled midsole on the heel looking back to the early nineties, and the aggressive profile and Foamposite-like upper design looking to the future.  With hints of the Orlando Magic uniform in the midsole breaking up an otherwise black-slash-gunmetal shoe, this sneaker was conservative enough in its design not to date too quickly.
